The foods that contain gluten are the following: soups, commercial broths, cold cuts, mayonnaise, ketchup, salad dressings, soy sauce, processed cheese, egg substitutes, marinades, sausages, baked beans in cans, puddings, hot dogs, ice creams, energy bars, etc.

Regarding drinks, gluten is an ingredient in beer, coffees with flavors, some teas, instant hot drinks, vodka, commercial chocolate milk, and more.

If you are sensitive to gluten you have to avoid all of the above-mentioned foods and drinks, and rather choose the ones that are gluten-free and brain-healthy. Gluten intolerance can lead to depression, joint pain, fatigue, gastrointestinal issues, and others.

Here’s a list of symptoms which indicate gluten intolerance:

1. Weight Gain

  • The sudden increase in body weight is one of the symptoms that confuse most of the gluten intolerant people.
  • This can be a result of two possible causes. First, systematic inflammation caused by gluten.
  • Second, malabsorption and permeability of the gut.
  • Damaged gut caused by gluten intolerance
may also result in experiencing skin issue called Keratosis Pilaris, also known as ‘chicken skin’.
  • It is found on the back of the arms or thighs because of fatty acid deficiency caused by damaged gut.

  • 2. Headaches

    • You might be gluten intolerant if you suffer from persistent headaches and migraines.
    • These headaches are very strong and sharp and may cause weakness and debilitating condition.

    3. Brain Fog and Fatigue

    • Gluten intolerance may cause brain fog, which is a subtle symptom.
    • Damaged and decreased cognitive function of the brain is believed to be triggered by the atypical and abnormal gluten activity on the IgG (Immunoglobulin G).
    • Immunoglobulin is an antibody which stimulates destruction of antigens, such as bacteria and viruses.
    • Furthermore, persistent fatigue is a possible side-effect of the brain fog condition.

    4. Unstable Immunity Function

    • Immunoglobulin A (IgA) is another type of antibody (fights against colds, flu, and other diseases) which can be gluten intolerant.
    • And if one of the IgA antibodies is sensitive to gluten it affects the immune system and causes unstable and abnormal functionality.

    5. Mouth Issues

    • Aphthous stomatitis is a condition that many gluten intolerant people may experience.
    • This condition is followed by persistent mouth ulcers and canker sores as well.
    • Moreover, people sensitive to gluten often experience teeth issues due to the malabsorption and reduced levels of calcium.

    6. Digestive Issues

    • One of the most obvious symptoms of gluten intolerance is having digestive issues.
    • Regarding children, the most common symptom is constipation.
    • Other digestive issues due to being sensitive to gluten among adults are gasses, stomach bloating, and diarrhea.
